1st FTPP Annual International AL Plasma Physics Conference (AIAPC)
We are pleased to announce the 1st FTPP Annual International AL Plasma Physics Conference (AIAPC) – AI-Informed Plasma Physics: the Opportunities to be held in Huntsville, Alabama, from October 28th to October 30th, 2024. (Evening Registration begins Sunday, October 27th). We encourage you to attend, and while presentations are welcome, they are not required for participation.

The conference is intended to focus on the exciting new opportunities that AI/ML are opening up in the broad field of plasma physics. The conference is an outgrowth of a National Science Foundation (NSF) EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) Track-1 grant entitled Future Technologies and Enabling Plasma Processes (FTPP) award.

The NSF EPSCoR FTPP project is an integrated, statewide collaborative effort, led by the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and engages a consortium of nine Alabama (AL) universities including Auburn University (AU), the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB), Tuskegee University (TU), the University of Alabama (UA), Alabama A&M University (AAMU), the University of South Alabama (USA), Alabama State University (ASU), and Oakwood University together with an industrial partner, Computational Fluid Dynamics Research Corporation (CFDRC). The FTPP project aims to build research, education, economic, and workforce capacity in pursuit of making foundational discoveries in space and laboratory plasma physics and create future societally transformative technologies in the State of AL, utilizing Alabama’s statewide expertise in plasma science and technology. The AIAPC is intended to bring forefront ideas, approaches, and expertise to a national and state audience to explore cutting-edge research directions that are likely to revolutionize the field. The impact of AI/ML in diverse areas of plasma physics will be vast but is yet to be to be implemented.
